Privacy
This site collects as little as a website can. It sets no cookies and has no accounts; it counts visits without personal data, as described under "Counting visits" below, and links to the shop carry a tag that says where you came from.
What we do not do
- This site sets no cookies.
- No script runs for advertising or social media, and nothing is passed to advertising companies. The small scripts of this site count visits and tag links to the shop, as described below.
- Fonts, images and scripts all come from this domain, not from other companies.
- There are no accounts, no contact forms, no newsletter sign-up and no questions to answer on the pages.
What does happen
The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). To show a page, Cloudflare's servers process the technical data that every browser sends: your IP address, the page requested, the time and the type of browser. Cloudflare does this as our hosting provider and may keep logs for a short time for security and reliability. We do not use that data to recognize visitors and we do not build profiles.
If you send us an email, we use your address and message to reply to you.
Counting visits
This site counts page views, clicks on links to the shop and searches in the search box, without cookies and without personal data: each count is a line with the page, the date, the language, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the website you came from, and nothing that identifies you; your IP address is not stored with it. This always happens, also if you decline or make no choice. If you choose "Accept" in the banner, we also save a random ID (16 letters, no name or email address) in your browser and count how far you scroll and how long the page is open. When you then click a link to the shop, the same ID is added to the link, so that we can see which guide visits lead to an order. The anonymous counts rest on our legitimate interest in knowing which pages help visitors; the ID rests on your consent. Your choice is saved in your browser for 6 months; use "Privacy settings" in the footer to change or withdraw it at any time, which also removes the ID. FragranceGems B.V. does the counting itself (Cloudflare receives it, our own server in the EU stores it); no analytics or advertising company gets it. Data is kept for up to 13 months.
Links to the shop
The buttons on this site lead to the FragranceGems shop on fragrance-gems.eu and its other language versions. The shop has its own privacy and cookie policy, which applies as soon as you are there.
When you click a link to the shop, a small script adds a source tag to the address of the link: this site's name, the word “referral”, the campaign name “merkgids” and the path of the page you were on. The shop can then see which page of this guide sent you. The tag is added only at the click; this site stores nothing about it, sets no cookie and sends the tag to no one but the shop.
